Northern Health is patting itself on the back for its accreditation.
The Canadian Council on Health Services Accreditation has awarded Northern Health with a three year accreditation, however, it has less than a year to address a couple of issues.

First of all, there’s the matter of infection control. The CCHSA wants to see an action plan for all sites covered by the Northern Health umbrella. This doesn’t necessarily mean there is a problem, checking on the CCHSA site it is noted that this has become a top priority for the Council, and it will be a major focus on all accreditations done this year. There also have to be some disaster plan exercises at all sites to ensure disaster readiness.

This is the first accreditation for Northern Health, although facilities under its wing have undergone independent accreditations over the years. The three year approval means Northern Health has met most of the health care standards set out by the Canadian Council on Health Services.
