Centotaph Guard  in Prince George,  stand silent  while services  are conducted

Prince George, B.C. –  Nearly  a thousand  people  attended the  Remembrance Day services at the Cenotaph in Prince George this morning.

The   march from the Civic Centre, had members of the royal Canadial Legion, the RCMP, Air Cadets, Sea Cadets,  Army Cadets, Fire Fighters, Search and Rescue,  Scouts, Cub Scouts, Pipers  and drummers.

One of the most poignant moments came when Ron McCully, (shown in photo at right) the father of Matthew McCully who died while serving in Afghanistan in May of this year, addressed the crowd.   Wearing the Silver Cross, McCully asked the crowd to honour veterans everyday, “When you see an old soldier, stop and say thank you.”

Wiping tears from his eyes,  he bowed his head in prayer before he, along with his wife and daughter,  were the first to lay a wreath at the cenotaph.
