The Fraser Fort George Regional Hospital District is investing nearly a million dollars to fund minor capital projects for Northern Health. The funds come in the way of a global grant for 2007 in the amount of $950,000.

The funding will be used to pay for a variety of medical equipment and building improvements for hospitals and health facilities in Prince George, MacKenzie and the Robson Valley.

Some of the items the funds will be used for include surgical and laboratory equipment for PGRH; a new x-ray table for McBride and District Hospital; a nurse call system and parking lot improvements at the MacKenzie and District Hospital; and renovations to the tubroom at Parkside and Rainbow Intermediate Care Homes.

"The Fraser Fort George Regional Hospital District is extremely proud of the role it plays in providing funding for important medical equipment for our region," says Regional Hospital District Chairman Don Zurowski. "Over the past five years, we have provided close to $7 million for minor capital projects that contribute to improved health services in our region. This investment is in addition to major capital projects that we partnered in such as the Maternal-Child Centre of Excellence at PGRH."
