File of Amanda Jean Simpson Under Review
By 250 News
Prince George, B.C. - RCMP investigators have sent their file on the death of Amanda Jean Simpson to “E” Division Headquarters in Vancouver.
“This is a fresh eyes approach to the file” says Constable Gary Godwin.
Four year old Amanda Jean Simpson died in 1999 in Prince George. A Coroner’s Jury found her death to be as the result of intentionally caused injuries. During the inquest, one pathologist testified he had had only seen injuries that severe once before and that was in a case in which a car had driven over a child’s head.
Following the inquest earlier this year, police went over the testimony from the inquest, but did not come up with any new information.
Amanda Jean’s family had been brought to the attention of the Ministry of Children and Family Development 22 times.
Constable Godwin says sending a file such as this to a senior major crimes investigator is an opportunity for a fresh look at the information and that could lead to new a new direction for investigation.
