Busy Agenda for Prince George City Council

Prince George City Council this evening will not only look at the “Friendship Lodge “matter this evening, the agenda also outlines a public hearing on some changes for Hospice House.
The request from Hospice House is to change zoning to “Major Institutional”, so the number of end of care beds can be doubled from 5 to 10. The hearing will also examine a request to reduce the set back if the rezoning is approved.
Council will be asked to set a deadline for another Alternate Approval Process. This time the bylaw is to borrow nearly $12 million dollars. More than $11 million would be used for the new RCMP facility.
There is a report from the Heritage Commission which calls for the inclusion of the Cameron Street Bridge, the one room schoolhouse at Fort George Park, the Nechako River crossing, the old post office at 1294 – 3rd Avenue, and the old liquor store at 1188 – 6th Avenue on the Heritage Registry.
Council will be asked to set aside $75 thousand dollars each year for the next five years from the gaming revenue for a public art reserve.
The Second Hand Dealers and Pawn Brokers bylaw is back before Council. This time Council will be asked to approve a draft bylaw and a consultation plan.
