You will have until 5.p.m. January 16th 2008 to express your displeasure with the City of Prince George’s plan to borrow nearly $12 million dollars.
If you don’t want the City to borrow the cash, you will have to show up at City Hall to sign the "counter petition". In order for the bylaw to be defeated, 10% of eligible voters will have to sign the "petition". That means, there would have to be 5535 signatures to stop the borrowing plan.
The dollars are to be spent as follows:A sum not exceeding eleven million three hundred and seventeen thousand dollars ($11,317,000) and to acquire such real property, easement, rights-of way, licenses, rights or authorities as may be requisite or desirable for or in connection with the RCMP – New Facility;
A sum not exceeding one hundred and eighty thousand dollars ($180,000)and to acquire all such real property, easements, rights-of-way, licenses, rights or authorities as may be requisite or desirable for or in connection with the Cemetery Development; and
A sum not exceeding two hundred and fifty thousand dollars ($250,000) and to acquire such real property, easements, rights-of way, licenses, rights or authorities as may be requisite or desirable for or in connection with the Downtown Street Lighting; and
A sum not exceeding twenty seven thousand dollars ($27,000) and to acquire such real property, easements, rights-of way, licenses, rights or authorities as my be requisite or desirable for or in connection with the West Bowl Snow Disposal Facility.
