More downtime and shift changes in the forest industry.
East Fraser Fibre in Mackenzie has announced downtime over the Christmas break, and when work resumes on January 8, there will be 40 fewer people on the payroll for a while.
East Fraser will be trimming to a one shift operation after the 2 ½ week break. The good news is, the shift loss will be temporary as the company installs some new equipment. Once the equipment is installed, the two shifts will resume. There’s been no word on when that might be.
