Air Quality Implementation Committee Looking for Dollars

Prince George, B.C. - The Prince George Air Quality Implementation Committee will be before Prince George City Council this evening and they are asking for a sizeable chunk of cash.

The $130 thousand dollars would go towards several projects, including rewriting some bylaws, the hiring of an Air Quality Coordinator / research assistant, media campaigns, a special website, and special campaigns.

Also on the agenda tonight, the public hearing for the rezoning of property to allow the construction of a new golf course.

There is a request o boost your garbage collection rates.  The Library renovation plan will be unveiled,  Council Shirley Gratton will ask Council to increase the budget for the parks,  there is a request to change the  plan for the  trail  between the Treasure Cove Casino and  Ferry Avenue and  there is a proposal to  expand the anti-idling program.

Most idling takes place at stop lights that are not needed.

If it isn't the air quality, it is the water quantity.

As Deb would say, it is a land management issue. Unfortunately what Deb ntends is that people are going to get hurt, and it isn't going to be the bums either. It will be people like the ones in the Milar that got a welfare hotel by their house and other investors in PG. This is the time for people with know-how and money to keep your hands in your pockets. Just like we had to do when the NDP was in power. Now is not a good time to do things in PG, unless you are spending government money.
