Prince George, B.C. – The Prince George Golf and Curling Club has the clearance to proceed with its plans for the property to build a new golf course.

The hearing was to  deal with a rezoning  of the property.  The  proponents have agreed to ensure there is  access  provided  to the trails system.    There is also an agreement to  set aside land for the City of Prince George to acheive that  goal.

The property involves 281 hectares and the request was to have it  zoned C9, recreational.  The Golf Course development would cover about 225 hectares.

Wildlife corridors on the property  have been protected through a greenbelt   on the site.  Access will be from Foothills Boulevard  which will mean  a left turn lane  for the eastbound traffic.

The PGGCC has a memorandum of understanding  with the  group that wants to protect the mountain biking and trail systems and  has written a letter of support to the cycling club's efforts to  establish  permanent trails.

The Mountain Biking Club  says it supports the  plan  but wants to deal  with a  300 metre corridor that is inside the boundary of the property. To loose that corridor would  hamper the overall trail they say.  Stil, they are  looking forward to further discussions on  the  matter.
