Prince George, B.C. - The Prince George Golf and Curling Club may have a new buyer for the existing site off Highway 16.
Club President Kevin Bowman says the Club has a letter of intent from a new buyer, who is wiling to buy the property for $15.5 million dollars.
Bowman says the deal  will hopefully close within 6 to eight weeks, once all the the “subjects” have been  met.
When asked what the subjects were, Bowman would only say “too many to mention.”
This is the third offer to purchase for the existing golf club lands.
The first offer fell through and led to a court case between the Golf course and the Pomeroy Group.  That  has now been settled with both sides  dropping their  cases.
The second offer fell through  when the  developer couldn’t   match visions with City Hall on what was appropriate for the  site.
The Club has just received approval for itsplans to develop a new site off Foothills Boulevard, a site they hope to have up and running with a new  golf course  in 2010.

Here we go again....
Tell us when the check clears and the I's are dotted and the T's are crossed...then I might start to get excited.
does anyone know what's happening with the curling rink? where is it moving to?
Curling rink? Good question.
Rumour has it that the curling rink will stay where it is in the short term, and then will be relocated in the neibourhood of Kin one and two.

Because this is a huge real estate deal that will now be handled by LOCALS you will see the fine hand of City Hall working to ensure everything goes smoothly.

Eventually the par 3 golf course, will disapear along with the Playhouse Theatre.

This whole scamerooney has been playing out for the past 10 or more years, and has been driven by the City.

That whole area was once recreational, and will in very short order be all commercial, hotels, and gambling. This didnt happen by chance.
So, what is the vision of city hall again? How come so many of the folks working at city hall don't know what the vision is? Chester

I have no problem with that swap. Personally, I didn't find the huge dirt field, the plain jane par 3 course or the eye sore ball diamonds to be such a great feature for that strip of land. It looked and felt bush league IMHO.

If the lands are developed properly, I think it will be a marked improvement from what was once there. If being the key word. That's always a wildcard in this City :)

Chester, the city government has not gotten around to hiring an expert from Vancouver to tell them what their/our vision is. Palopu, the fine hand? rofl
If you want something accomplished, don't invite the city to help. Strictly an opinion, you understand.
