Prince George, B.C. -About half of the workers who have been off the job since the Nechako River spilled its banks over a week ago are back at work in the River Road area.
Meantime, the bills for the installation of the gabion diking and hiring of contractorsand overtime has now hit the $685 thousand dollar mark. That money will be refunded once the city of Prince George files all of its bills for flood mitigation with the Provincial Government.
The crews are currenlty working on removing debris from the River Road area, and Utilities Manager Marco Fornari says city trucks and two different contractors have supplied trucks to haul the material away.
Further east on River Road crews continue work to raise the section of roadway. The road is 1 - 2 metres lower in a section near Foley Crescent.
Crews expect to complete the clean up of the River Road area by the end of the week, but there is no telling when River Road might be reopened to general traffic.
