Merry Christmas And Thank You All

A couple of weeks ago there was much made of the fact that someone who writes letters on behalf of the postal service to kids in Canada , took a shot at the child who had written the letter.

In one case and I do hope I am correct because little information has been released, the youngster asked for a long list of presents... evidently the letter came back, refering to the child as a greedy little…..  I told some one the other day I could have seen my mother writing that response and I want to qualify why she would have done it.

As a kid about 4, I recall waking up smelling donuts being cooked. Now when I was a kid donuts were a very special treat and so I got up to see what was going on. With two other brothers and a sister, all older, you tried to get to the table first.

Here was my Ma busy cooking donuts and putting them into stockings that she had prepared. We didn’t have any money, for that matter food was a luxury. It was during the war and toys were not to be had. As a matter of fact my older brother Bill (who I still look up to) claims that  because I was the youngest I  got a real toy , a dinky toy , he says the rest of the family got a comic book.  He is older, so I bow to his knowledge.

We learned during those Christmas seasons just what it was all about. We were lucky enough to have a mother, no father and a sister and a couple of brothers, and of course those great icing sugar donuts that my mother made.

There really was a Santa!

So would she have written saying you are a greedy little... sh_t?  If she could have written I think she may have, as a matter of fact so could have I.

There is no story here folks just a simple, let's count our blessings, just being around people, just watching the kids, and just seeing the Christmas sprit is something to behold.

My Elaine spends countless hours every year decorating the house for Christmas, I always ask her why and she always replies ,"'cause I love Christmas" , she no longer has a mum or dad and I understand how she thinks, I love here for it, she is like a kid every Christmas, what  great experience.

So its Christmas time, time to thank not some individuals but every single one of you who have made Opinion250 the fastest growing internet newspaper in British Columbia, both Elaine and I have been honored to have written for you and we are doubly honored that you have taken time to read us and to pass the site on to others. We are both humbled and oh so thankful this Christmas season

As so to all of you, God rest you Merry Gentlemen , let nothing you dismay for Christ our Lord and Savior was born on Christmas day……

and oh Yes… there is magic!

Believe.

I’m Meisner

My grandfather told me and my brother in 1955, "They'll never ever get man on the moon!" I wonder what he'd say about Opinion 250?
To everyone a Merry Christmas and a Happy and Healthy New Year!

Merry Christmas to Elaine, Ban and all.

All of us who grew up during the dirty thirties know about the gifts that we got but the most important gift was some perspective later in lives.

Mery Christmas and a happy new year.

Cheers
I remember Dinky toys too. My wife, Linda, starts getting ready for Christmas the day after Halloween and tonight our youngest is coming home for a few days.

I hope everyone has as nice a Christmas as I plan to have, and good health to you in the New Year.
God rest you merry Gentlemen and Ladies too, I presume Ben.

We never had money but I always got a book and that was the best of all. I would get so immersed in the book I wouldn't hear my Mom calling to come and help with dinner. That's true!

Happy Christmas to all and a healthy 2008. Thanks for giving us this outlet Ben and Elaine and best wishes for 2008.
Merry Christmas to you and Elaine Ben, and to all the crew at opinion 250. Love the site. I check it religiously every day. Have a wonderful Christmas season and all the best in the new year.

To the folks at Opinion 250, thanks for creating such a great medium for people to share their views and opinions, no matter how they may differ. It is appreciated.
Merry Christmas to all and a Happy New Year.
Merry Christmas and Happy New Year. May each and every one be blessed and be a blessing to someone else this coming year. We have much to be thankful for. We should especially celebrate our differences. How boring things would be if we all agreed. Chester

Ps. I also remember Dinky Toys and Corgi Toys.
Merry Christams to Ben & Elaine and the crew that keeps this site going behind the scenes, as well as all those who post here and keep it that little bit more interesting than "just the facts ma'am; just the facts".

And, of course, this place can be a hoot at times....

;-)
Merry Christmas Ben, Elaine and all :)
My mom and dad struggled paycheck to paycheck for quite a few years so us kids appreciated the donuts as well :) So glad for that!
