BURN THE SHACK ! WE HAVE TO START PLAYING HARDBALL,THE GAME IS GETTING AWAY FROM US.
We need to come down hard on these low lifes! Please let us at them!
The game got away on us a long time ago!
We do need to come down hard on these lowlifes, but somebody also needs to come down on the damn judges that keep putting back on the street!
The system is broken me thinks!
This is not the OK Corral boys, and it is definetly not a game.

The judges act on laws laid out by our political system. I also am not happy with the outcomes of these men and woman who consistantly revolve through the jails, re-hab homes and social asssistance to name just three. And I don`t have a simple answer, like "gimme a gun and I can solve the problem".
Does anyone in this universe have anything that might shed some light on the issue we are put off about?
I think they are people who lack positive goals and self worth in life.. Probably by starting down the wrong path early in life and living the only way they know how to, which is day by day and high by high with no long term vision. The powers that be in this society put a huge mental authority over these people by labeling them crackheads ect ect.. Rehab systems dont enforce any or little self worth or purpose for success for alot of these people if they did then the success rates would be much higher. Its a long complicated issue that isnt going to go away any time soon unless the decision makers are willing to re think and try a better system.
A few owners have spent considerable funds in renovating most of the duplexes on the south side of 1400 Milburn. They have torn the places back to the studs and beyond. The same is happening on Quince, north and south of Milburn.

The north side of the street (1400 block) and one house on the SW corner of Pine and Milburn are still disasters.

As the neighbourhood improves most of the crack shacks have been forced out. This was one of the few remaining. It gets hit hard by police and then the City inspectors revoke occupancy permits. That forced many to close and led to some of the renovations. While a few remain disasters, even the owners of those places can see the writing on the wall.

When we moved into the area a few years ago, there were at least ten crack shacks within six blocks. Now? This one and perhaps one more. The result of a steady effort by residents, police and the City. More and more of the homes are owner occupied and thus reporting of illegal activity is increasing in the whole area. The fear of retaliation by gangs is fast going down as their bases (the former crack shacks) dry up. Improvements are being made throughout the area.

Oh yes, rumour has it that the druggies who have been forced out have moved to the "Hood North", just off Ospika. The dealers who used to hang around the 7/11 on 20th are now outside of the Mr. Gs on Ospika - same guys, same sad looks.

The key to getting rid of these horrid places is revocation of the occupancy permit, facilitated by zealous police searches which result in damage to "everything". The slum lords are forced to do something if they cannot rent these places out and given higher values, it makes more sense to renovate than to simply allow the low-life scum back in.
