Police say that another drug trade shooting occurred in the city overnight. It was originally reported that shots had been fired into a home in the 2100 block of Norwood St.

The shooting narrowly missed a male who was in the home at the time, his dog however was not so lucky and it was hit by bullet fire. The dog is now at a vet where police are hoping to obtain bullet evidence.

As it turned out the shooting resulted in a car chase after the shots were fired. Plainclothes officers and a Crime Reduction team were in the vicinity of the shooting and arrived at the scene just in time to see two suspects fleeing the scene. One of the fleeing men pointed a long barrel gun at a police officer; the police officer fired one shot after the man refused to lay down his weapon.

He escaped the scene and was pursued by police into the down town core as the vehicle attempted to evade police.

The vehicle was stopped by several unmarked and marked police cars and two suspects were arrested. .

RCMP police dogs were called in and a third suspect was apprehended hiding in an underground structure.

The home on Norwood Street has been secured by police as they continue their investigation.

Nice work by the 5-0.
I live in the area and watched it all come down. The RCMP did a great job with handling the situation. Now if only the legal system, judges and ultimately the politicians who developed these laws would get into some serious consequences for these actions.
Some serious jail time is needed for these creeps before someone innocent gets killed. To bad the cop missed his shot as it could have ended right there.
Now it is official, we are in the middle of a gang war for territory. Loud bangs are no longer car backfires. Hit the ground when you hear them. Yeah, getting tough on crime is the way to go and it will all just go away. When our leaders really want to do something about drugs, they had better look for those who have real answers and not copying failed strategies from the United States.
The guns were a sawed off 12 gauge and a semi auto handgun. One of those arrested was the one stabbed at Crime Center Mall on Christmas eve.
Chalk one up for the good guy's!!
It could have been worse but unfortunately, the ones who sometimes end up dead are not always the ones who should be!
If they are pointing guns at the cops now, this really is a war!
Maybe it's true...drug money really does flow up hill?
Thank God we have a gun registry.
Ruez I share your mockery in the gun registry. The billions of dollars spent on it would have been put to better usage by police forces for manpower and other resources.
Gun registry still doesnt prevent a crime from being commited.
The bad guys don't use or buy registered guns...a fact of life that the politicians were aware of when the gun registry was created.
All it does is make criminals out of honest citizens who haven't registered their firearms.
It is a joke that costs canadians almost a billion dollars a year.
Get rid of it, and give that money to the cops!
Any politican who supports this farce should be voted out!
