Prince George, B.C. -  The Rotary Hospice House  on Clapperton Avenue in Prince George is slated to undergo a  major renovation.    The $2.2 million dollar project will see a new building constructed,  more than $2 hundred thousand dollars worth of renovations  to the existing  house,  and more than $200 thousand dollars worth of furnishings.

The capital fundraising  project is already underway  and  the Hospice Society was counting on the City of Prince George to  put in $150 thousand dollars towards the cause.

Thatmoney could come in a couple of ways. The Mayor wants to know if there is flexibility and if some of the dollars could come in  waived fees and development costs.  the Hospice society is open to that discussion.

While all of Council supports the good work  the Hospice House provides,  there are some who thinkNorthern Health should carry some of the capitalcost burden.

The request has been refered to City Staff to  see how the  funding could be made available.

Over the years, the Hospice Society has spent most of it's efforts continually fundraising to provide the exemplary services to our community. It's discouraging to be asking for support from our city and still not get a solid foot in the door. I see the wasted dollars on things such as a new clock for the multiplex take precedent over the Hospice Society's request. Makes me wonder where peoples priorities are? Chester
