Terry Fox Statue Getting Extra Attention

Prince George, B.C. - The Terry Fox memorial statue that was vandalized last summer will be getting some extra special attention.

Last summer City Council approved spending $6,000 to repair the badly damaged statue.

Since that time, donations of $15 thousand have been made towards the refurbishing and protection of the statue. The City’s Community Services Co Ordinator, Doug Hofstede says the extra dollars will be used to :

elevate the statue, ( the pedestal profile will be narrow so people can’t stand on it.)
surround the statue with a garden
add lighting

It doesn't matter whether it looks like Terry Fox, Pamla Anderson or Chief LaCota, it is just something to play with. It is a lump of metal/fiberglass for people to play with and tweek the city's nose.

A good long rope attached to the bumper of a pick up should pull this profectile over easily, or at least fun trying.

I hope that doesn't happen Yama.
I don't think you would be a party to it either.
I may or may not agree with the statue but I find it really hard to condone wanton, willful damage, just because someone is bored.

Not me, but I don't see where it is much different than tipping over outhouses on Halloween. It's annoying if it's your outhouse is all. In this case it's nobody's and everyones toy. Move it over infront of the Casino if it has to be watched, otherwise it is going to get played with.

I'd rather see the city spend some money on Mr PG. Mr PG has even been removed from the city's register. So why should I care about another statue the city likes better?

Too bad you can't ask Terry Fox which one he would think is more important to society, a statue of himself or an outhouse?
