B.C. Ambulance says a young girl is in critical condition in the intensive care unit in Prince George Regional Hospital following a near drowning at the Four Seasons pool Saturday morning.
R.C.M.P. Sergeant Marvin Toma would only say officers were called out to assist paramedics around 11am. The victim is believed to be about 12-years-old.
The incident closed the pool for several hours. The City's Manager of Leisure Services, Tom Madden, says the closure is part of a review process that goes into effect after an accident. He says the closure allows staff to document details of the incident and discuss it with the management team.
Madden says accidents at the City's pool are a fairly rare occurrence. "Certainly our staff are well-trained to handle them (accidents) and were of valuable assistance in the beginning to the individual and to paramedics when they arrived."

My grandpa's company was involved in building it and all the families went for a swim before it opened.
Mom dived off the diving board and broke her nose on the split between the deep end and the shallower lanes end.
The result was a painted line marking the edge for future reference by other divers.
Stupid things can sometimes be costly. thankfully the pool has not had many other incidents like this.
