Prince George, B.C. - For the first time since the Nechako River spilled its banks on the 11th of December, there will be a public meeting on the matter.  That session is set for this evening at the Civic Centre from  7-9.

Members of the Prince George Emergency Team and local community agencies will be on hand to give some details and answer questions about the ice jam, the flood situation, response and recovery efforts.

When asked why it has taken six weeks to hold a public meeting on the matter, Information Officer with the City Don Schaffer says its because staff were focusing their efforts on dealing with the flood itself, and then with  those  directly impacted by the rising waters.

Emergency staff have already met twice with the residents of DelHaven.
