It’s Here...the Amphibex takes to the Fraser                    (Opinion250 photo)

Prince George, B.C. -  It took took two hours this morning for the 10-person crew from Eco Technologies to unload the Amphibex unit at Paddlewheel Park, into the Fraser River.

Worksafe BC officials, City Staff, Mayor Colin Kinsley, Prince George Fire Rescue’s Swift Water Rescue Crew, and a handful of onlookers watched as the unit made its way off the flat-deck trailer that had hauled the machine from Montreal, Que..

"It’s great to see," says Mayor Kinsley, "I can’t say enough about how pleasing it is to see the Provincial Emergency Program joining with us and looking at all options."  The PEP program is footing what’s expected to be a $375-thousand dollar price tag for use of the unit and crew to run the Amphibex 24-hours per day for the next several days.

Kinsley says efforts will continue on plans to pipe warm water into the river, as well.  "When this particular work is done and the jam is broken, this (the Amphibex unit) will go home, but if we have the hot water option still there, then, if there’s a reoccurrence, we’ll have that to deal with it."

Mayor Colin Kinsley should refer to Heidi as the initiator of this project
Heidi, please stand up and take a bow from all of us that care about what you did !!!

Totally awesome !

On one of the rivers I monitor, starting to get serious accumulation and am certainly watching what goes on up there real close...
It's great to see Heidi's Amphibex has arrived and is going to work. Thanks to Ben and Elaine who assisted her. It is pathetic that others have to grandstand on her efforts. Has any other media given her credit.....it should be put out there.

The hot water system should be abandoned. As "buddy" suggested, install a bubble system, for future use, which would probably be cheaper and totally environmentally friendly. It was used on Babine Lake, out of Granisle, years ago, when the copper mine was in operation. As "buddy" mentioned.....it is a proven system.
So does this mean it's working quite well??? I haven't heard anything and wasn't able to see it....i'm stressed not knowing as my friend who works at the credit union passed along a message to me from another lady that said,"Tell Heidi it better work!!!!!!"

Ugh! lol..
Great job Heidi, I hope that you are recognized for your effert. I am really amazed that we didn't have His Worseshit (damn spellcheckers not working) Dick Harris, Jay Hill, Shirley Bond, John Rustad, Mr. Wendys, Gordo and a few cabinet ministers present for a photo op where they could have enlightened us with all they have done to MITIGATE this jam.
I hope they don't recognize my efforts to the public only "if" it doesn't work. That would be a sad day.
I know we're all sitting on pins and needles here, but hang in there ... today's only the first day. lol :)

From what we saw he was just working his way up the river in the open channel at 1:30 he still hadn't gotten to the confluence yet, but was getting close. He was using the hoe to pull himself along up the river.
Heidi It will work just fine, so don't worry. Good job on getting things moving!
The S.S. Heidi takes to the water !
and Heidi is going to go take to a bottle of wine at her sisters birthday party tonight ;)
Good luck Mr. LaPlante and crew!!! Stay safe.
rubba tub tub, three men in a tub.
Ever hear of dynamite? Why did they not use ditching powder? Yah this was a waste of money again.... 5 minutes and the channel would be open.....Any reason why it was not used? Nothing in the river other than a handful of polluted white fish....
