Prince George, B.C. - City Councillors used this evening’s flood update as an opportunity to commend the many people who’ve been grappling with the emergency situation since it began back on December 11th.
Councillor Murry Krause, who is one of those displaced from his home by the flooding, says he’s said it before, and will say it again -- that he appreciates the compassion and dedication of those working down at the scene.
Don Bassermann says he would like to encourage those affected to make sure they take advantages of all the services available to them and is passing on a huge "thank you" to those family and friends who have quietly stepped in to help residents impacted by the Nechako flood waters.
Councillor Debora Munoz is also passing on her appreciation to everyone "working around the clock to deal with this disaster." She says collaboration will be the key to success in dealing with the situation and she points out the contributions of Heidi Robinson - known to Opinion250 readers as Heidi1555 - who was the first person to suggest the possibility of using the Amphibex, after finding it during a computer search.
"So here’s an example of working together and the good that comes from that," says Munoz, "And I just want to celebrate and thank Heidi Robinson for doing her work, for doing her bit and sharing that information with the experts and I look forward to that collaboration towards success both in the immediate, the medium term and in the long term in finding solutions to deal with this."
