Carney Hill elementary is the recipient of provincial funding for a new program

Prince George, B.C. -  The area's three MLAs made several stops around the city yesterday to hand out provincial dollars for new funding initiatives...

In addition to partnering on a green energy system for the city and the relocation of the red rock weigh scale, Pat Bell, Shirley Bond, and John Rustad were on-hand for the official opening of the province's StrongStart BC early learning centre at Carney Hill elementary school.

The Prince George School District is receiving $50-thousand dollars -- $20-thousand to prepare the in-school space and $30-thousand to fund this year's operating costs.

The centre will offer a free drop-in program for parents and children, where qualified educators will lead activities including stories, music, and arts.

School Board Chair, Lyn Hall, says, "StrongStart programs provide the foundation for children to have better learning outcomes."

I wonder if there will be times for working parents of young children to partake in these programs? Or offered on Saturdays. As a parent of a toddler, I am often frustrated as I would love to take her to programs like this, but cannot as I work weekdays.

Street proof yer kid to show him the way of the world. School proof yer kid before he goes to school by teaching him how to read, cause he /she sure won't learn how to at school.
