B.C.’s Auditor General will release a report entitled, "Preventing Fatalities and Serious Injuries in B.C. Forests: Progress Needed" later today...

John Doyle’s report comes on the day a service will be held at a Prince George funeral chapel for 43-year-old logging truck driver Robert Joseph Kandler.

Kandler was killed last Wednesday when his fully-loaded rig collided with an empty truck at the 62-kilometre mark of North Road, near Fort St. James.

His death marked the first logging fatality of 2008.  An investigation into the crash continues.

Trucksafe still doesn't monitor trip times, maintenance or speed close enough. Responsibility for safety is shrugged off from the licencee down. Until the licencees are held accountable incidents will continue to occur.
It would be helpful if some info was released re the suspected causes or circumstances of this last trucking fatality......if we have to wait for WCBs report it'll take forever. Any info helps every other guy on the road make more informed decisions or to just be more aware in certain situations.

Don't big trucks have to be inspected every so ofton at a licensed place??
