By 250 News

Tuesday, February 05, 2008 11:17 AM

Opinion250 hit a new milestone in the month of January. We had 5,574,944 page views,    11, 373,333 hits.

Our readership more than tripled from January 2007.

Elaine and Ben can’t take all the credit for the huge increase, they were away part of the month and Michelle Cyr Whiting stepped in to fill the shoes.  Michelle,  along with CNC new media student, Corrin Peet (who is doing a job shadow at 250, Hartley Miller, who has been with us since day one,  and of course our very own Tammy Marleau all  worked hard to deliver the  numbers.

As you can see from the monthly stats 42,726 people added us to their favorites during the month.

Thank you all for giving us the read.

Starting this Friday Feb 8th we introduce a new feature. You will see it is called, “Friday Free For All ", it’s a throw back to the old radio days when you talked about what was on your mind. Please feel free to give it a try, make your comments known on any subject.

Thanks again for the great support.

Congratulations. I've made it my home page months ago, and it's the first thing I check out, because it is the best way to be up to date on happenings in and around Prince George. Keep up the good work Ben and Elaine and all 250 staff.
Congrats to the people who have made this achievement. Just an example.. If it wasnt for this site i wouldnt have known what an Amhibex was and probaly city council. Looking forward to “Friday Free For All" should be very interesting. Cheers!
Sure miss the days when Ben was on the radio though. He wasn't afraid to tackle the tougher topics and keep the folks informed, Kenny Dam, Alcan and the corporate deals and things like that.

If it were not for his daily radio broadcast a lot of us would have been in the dark as our politicians slid stuff under the table.
Ben forced them to put it out in the open and air their dirty laundry and for that I can not thank him enough.

As for local radio there is not much point in tuning in any more. Just a lot of corporate dribble, music and commercials as they try to provide a canned radio format for the masses completely missing the boat. You can tune in any time day or night and get the same thing, music-commercials-music commercials-music commercials, oh a little bit of local news then back to music-commercials etc...... Well as long as you don't live past Isle Pierre when the radio fades into space.

Thank god for Satellite Radio!
We no longer subscribe to The Citizen as
we have found it to be politically biased and that goes for CKPG as well.

Opinion 250 is informative, gives us news about P.G. and you can't beat the comments from the readers. It gives you a better idea of what people are really thinking.
The citizens of this town are eternally grateful. Opinion 250 is the first news
we read every morning and continue to revisit several times a day. Thanks again for all your hard work.
This is what locally focused, grassroots journalism should be. Fight the powers!
I take credit for a lot of the increase. Unlike toothless backwoodsmen like imorg, I link op250 at other pages, and invite people here. Joe Slemko posted here ONLY because I asked him to.

My critics are jackasses. I am from Toronto, and I am fuming over the much publicized collapse of charges against Central Field Command cops. Three cops were ready to testify against the CFC 6, and the judiciary sandbagged the case. Too bad there isn't interest here. I would hire 1000 cops and order them to fire 5000.
Quaddin:

Re Satellite Racio, I have had Sirius and XM for 3 years. Given the lack of Canadian content, a channel should be given to regional producers. The CBC isn't bad, but the private broadcasters are better in the regions.
Story idea:

Those who oppose police use of the "Mr Big"
scam as means to the end of causing targets
to act out coerced "confessions," need to be
aware that a counter-attack is being made
against that crime-against-humanity. The Canlii website publishes a dozen cases where
RCMP deceivers carried out the Mr Big atrocity.

Congratulations, Ben, Elaine and all the Opinion 250 staff.
As for the radio station that Ben used to be on.....when Ben left, I left and I never tuned in again. The local radio stations are not worth listening to with the exception of CBC Radio One and Day Break North. I have not watched TV for over 19 years...I have far more important things to do with my life.
It is refreshing to have news and comments, free of political interference. I quit the Citizen, many years ago, because of their bias and fear to print the truth.
I look forward to the, "Friday Free For All" It's great, that through this medium, we can all express our views and share with others regarding local issues, free of political interference and bias.
Keep up the good work, Opinion 250!
Congratulations again.

I take credit for most of the increase, as I regularly publish astonishingly insightful articles as well as having an amazingly correct opinion all the time. People the world over, now visit this site regularly, hanging on my every word and anxiously awaiting the next. You don't need to thank me, my reward is knowing that I am educating all of mankind from my kingerplunken on a keyboard. (good thing I don't have to keep a straight face)

Feel free to build me a monument.
;-)

Congratulations you guys !
Congratulations, Opinion 250! This site is the best and I also have it as my home page. :)

I too appreciate and congratulate Ben, Elaine and team for the success of this site. I look here first at the end of my day to get an update on what is going on. I recognize the importance of hearing other points of view to keep things in perspective. Chester
Yes, it is amazing! A huge congrats!
:)
Congrats to you. I hope that beyond being an excellent place for local journalism that you have managed to create a great business concern out of it. Opinion250 is a must stop on my daily reading - the local insight is great.

Congratulations to Opinion 250!!
Everyone has something they want to say, and the problem with conventional media,is that they really are not interested in what anyone else thinks or feels.
They have their own agenda and it is usually politically motivated.
This forum allows us all to do that, and that is a very rare thing today!
And I also believe that the politicians are really starting to read what is said on here, and THAT is a really great thing!!
Of course, they are still not listening to the peons, but at least they know what people think!
So they can't say they weren't warned!
