Prince George, B.C. - The two engineering firms that the City of Prince George hired to assist them with what to do about the flood of the Nechako River back in December 2007 billed the city $26,800.00 for their work.
While the City could not provide a break down, Paul Doyle of Doyle Engineering, and Dave Andres of North West Hydrologics combined to reach that figure.
The two engineering companies were hired after the Nechako jumped its banks on December 16th2007.
The flood came as the result of an ice jam that formed near the boat launch at Cottonwood Park. That jam flooded out homes on the North side of the river, and then within days another jam formed down stream of the old Cameron St Bridge which resulted in extensive flooding along River Road.
Eco Technologies of New Brunswick was able to break an open channel in the river from the confluence of the Fraser reducing the flood threat dramatically.
Eco Technology billed the city for $375,000 dollars for work and expenses over a 10 day period.
