The RCMP Constable who  was accused  of  buying sex from two  teenaged  prostitutes in Prince George  15 years ten years ago, has launched a  law suit against the  force.

Constable Justin Harris  was suspended with pay in September of 2004 after being accused of  being involved  with  the hookers at the  time  former Provincial Court Judge David Ramsay  was involved with the street workers.   Ramsay was convicted and  has since died in  prison.

Harris faced a  disciplinary hearing, but the case was dropped  because  the hearing took too long to be  heard. There accusations never got to court because the key witness died.

Harris was  was re-instated  and currently lives in Kamloops.   He maintains his innocence  and wants compensation for claims including negligence, malicious prosecution and abuse of authority.   The  lawsuit names the Attorney-General of Canada, BC’s Public Safety Ministry and RCMP Deputy Commissioner Gary Bass.

Let me get this straight.
This cop was never prosecuted because it took to long and the key witness died.
He is suing the RCMP because he thinks he was wronged.
I think this loser should count his blessings then go jump in the lake.
Taser him! It works for everybody else.
Even if he can speak French, he is throwing his chance of promotion or even going to Haiti out the window.
Perhaps during the lawsuit investigation, the truth will come out against this officer and he will have, in fact, shot himself in the foot!
Opportunist, sociopath or innocent?

Mulroney got 2.1 mil by going on the offensive and he claimed his innocence too. What has this guy got to lose? Too many years have gone by to prosecute him (or have they?) and the key witness has died. It would make a good "made for TV" movie if some victims came out of the woodwork and he was tried and convicted.
If he is innocent and he may well be, then his name should be cleared. Let the truth come out because it is out there.
If too many years have gone by for prosecution (I doubt that) then the same limitations should apply to those seeking redress. Otherwise, we would be in the position of paying out all sorts of claims many years after the fact.
Wait, oh yeah, we already are.
The displaced japanese, the head taxed chinese, the aboriginal industry, the wounded sisters of sin society (just kiddin) But notably; NOT those who served in the Merchant Marine in ww2.
metalman.
Yes Junco,Mulroney DID get 2.1 million, but it seems it is all coming back to bite him now!
In most cases, the past refuses to stay buried forever.
Maybe he is innocent. More often than people realize, prosecutions (charges) are taken out in the name of political correctness. Since some authority types in the past MAY HAVE gotten away with some abuse of power, the trend becomes to make convictions of the innocent to “redress the errors of the past”.

In this case the fact seems a little too obvious considering that the accused has a British name (Justin Harris) and the tentative victims are likely female, being that they are prostitutes. So to summarize, the accused is likely a Caucasian, male authority figure of British descent and the alleged victims are likely young females.

The discussion so far seems to assume the suspect is guilty and the level of scorn is ridiculous. If you have someone close to you who has been falsely accused by the justice system you are unfortunate. I am.
Yes Andyfreeze, it is all coming back to bite Mulroney now and I can say that I am quite enjoying it too! The creep thought if he proclaimed loud enough and with enough indignation that he would be believed. "Thou doth protest too much" came to mind.I remember watching the news when he won his judgement and he was being interviewed outside of his home. He had his arm wrapped "protectively" around his young son and he said something like "If I can prevent this from happening to another Canadian family, than it has all been worthwhile" Puke.
Yes Junco,I remember that scene too,but unfortunately I think he will get away with it again!
I think if the whole truth came out,Lyin'Brian wouldn't be the only one in the party who is dirty!
In all fairness to another human being, the officer does have the right to defend himself and any accusations made about him. I would expect the same. And I would expect the same for anyone else. We have a justice system that claims you are innocent until you are proven guilty. The officer is entitled to his day in court and anyone else who feels they have a case against him should step forward. Chester

Why would anybody assume the cop is guilty? Do we NEED to seek out the worst in people? Let's be honest with ourselves now; how many of us actually have the hard facts in this case? I see a forest of hands rising in response to my query, but I submit that most of the people who think they are informed got their information from the news media, others from a gossip mill. How many of you are willing to admit that you do not really know the truth?
I find that it is all too easy for us to convict a person in the court of public opinion, based on "what we heard"
Get this straight, I have no axe to grind here, I do not know the fuzz in question nor do I know of any of his alleged victims, or his alleged persecutors.
Judge not, lest ye be judged.
Strictly an opinion.
metalman.
People do assume this guy is guilty, but that has more to do with the fact that he is a cop,and in particular,RCMP.
People also dislike cops in general, but THAT is the cops fault for trying bury their own dirt!
Do something about that little problem and they will begin to take care of moch of the animosity directed at them!
Some people might assume he is guilty while others who have worked with his victims know he is guilty.
you don't get suspended for being a good cop...lets hope this forces all of his dirty laundry into the light
I am sorry i am so late into this one. Those of you who have decided he is guilty without knowing anything about his case are completely off the rails. Period. No one should be assumed to be guilty just because he has been accused. Period. As for Jimmi, what planet are you from? Since when has it been true that innocent people are not persecuted? Suspended? Executed.
Either get informed, people or admit that your interest is in police bashing. If you want to just bash the RCMP, or anyone else for that matter, without having any facts, then maybe put a disclaimer at the front of your post saying so. It would save time for the rest of us i think.
He doesn't have a hope. He may, in fact, be setting fire to his own backyard by accident.

Does the fact that Ramsey and the complainant are now dead, have anything to do with it ? You bet.
I'm here to bash the dirty ones ;)

Being suspended with pay pretty much spells out that he did it. They wouldn't suspend him unless his dirt got exposed. Didn't you watch W-Five? It gets exposed they suspend. Not exposed they continue to work.
