Prince George, B.C. - The College of New Caledonia Board of Governors has approved a 2% hike in tuition that will kick in for the fall of 2008.

The increase was needed because of a projected $1.1. Million budget shortfall.

The College must run a balanced budget so there will have to be some cuts to programs and staff. The details will not be available until the end of March as the College is waiting for funding details from the Provincial Government before making those decisions.

The College is not anticipating any funding increase from the Province but needs to see the detailed plan before making any moves on possible cuts.

Unfortunately atheletic programs will most likely get the axe and that is a shame. Collegiate atheletics always made my time at university better.
2%? Why that is less than inflation. No room to whine there. If only everything else in this province only went up 2% I am sure I would be one of many happy campers. 9 cents a litre for gas is a bit more than 2%. What a province, eh?
