Car Rear Ends Grader

Prince George - A driver escaped serious injury last night when the small car he was driving plowed into the rear of a Yellowhead Road and Bridge Grader that was working scraping the shoulders of highway 16 west at Westgate Ave.

The first witnesses on the scene reported the driver was thrown through the windshield as he went forward in the crash. His passenger was wearing a seat belt and escaped injury.

The driver was taken to hospital with head injuries

How do you hit the back of a grader unless there are no lights, otherwise you are unconscious, dead or drunk..
Not wearing a seatbelt says a lot about the thinking level as well.
At leat the grader wasn't hurt bad and no one was killed....THIS TIME!

I had a bit of a laugh on friday when
someone on Lad 1 (truck radio) warned every body about the seatbelt check at Carney and 1st ave. Someone said well if you wear it then you wouldn't have to worry about it. Makes sense I think. Why should taxpayers pay $200,000.00 medical bills for somebody, just because they didn't wear a seatbelt. Seat belt fines should be ten times what they are now.

I'd like to know when it happened. Friends drove by a couple graders on the side of the road by Westgate that did not have any lights on Sat night. They commented on how they were too close to the highway and in a dangerous spot.

Perchance a dash of 'he was going too fast for the conditions'???
Pretty hard for a grader to leap out in front of you, with or with out lights on.
And I doubt very much that the operators were on the road working, with their lights off. No seatbelt, hit hard enough to be thrown through the windshield, sorry, no sympathy for the driver from me.

It was near the intersection going into Westgate so the lighting there was not an issue. Anyone with authority there allowed to use the word "stupidity" when writing out their accident report?

the graders were parked along the highway without any lights on. Figure it out....how much room is between the snow bank on the side of the road and the highway? The graders would have been partially on the highway. Dumb place to park two graders.....why not pull onto the side road going into Westgate?? Still dumber to not have a seatbelt on.
