Police have knocked off what is described as a major grow-op in the 13000 block of Chief Lake Rd. Police searched three buildings on the property and turned up about 600 marijuana plants.

Police say that it appeared that a major harvest had recently taken place leading them to believe that this operation had as many as 2000 to 3000 plants in full operation.

No information has been provided as to how many people may be charged in the bust. The investigation is continuing.

And this, another episode will accomplish what? A lesson? For who? A lesson in futility fer the cops? Or a lesson of better concealment fer the baddies? And the penalty is?
Harbinger, don't ever expect humans to act with a rational or logical mind. The new paradigm is that "opinions" driven by emotion and self-love rule, damned be the truth. Humans are obsessed with doing everything the wrong way, the way that will cause the most harm over the longest period of time possible.

That sounds like a big operation. I hope they registered for a GST number.
They busted 600 plants and figure there are 3000 at full capacity.. i think kevin1006 must have purchased and smoked the other 2400. Its the only logical explanation after reading his stupid humans rants.
The rcmp should put in an order to seize all of the property...house, vehicles, everything
Same from me northman. Kevin1006 is an idiot....and it's narrow, shallow thinking that keeps things like that going...
Got to have some kind of income what with all the forest sector shutting down. Might as well harvest pot rather than timber.
I think it's well past time to make pot legal. Look at the taxes on booze and cigarettes and add the taxes from legalized pot to that "pot". We may actually be able to get some "pot"holes fixed on our roads.
Good one(s) Zooper, I agree.
LEGALIZE the use of marijuana, regulate the growing and distribution. This will shut the not so angelic ones out of the marijuana market. It is true that they will find something else to sell, hopefully it would be something benign. Hey, we have to start somewhere, right now the government appears to be doing nothing about the problem. Isolated busts are nothing more than an inconveniance to the marketers, and the few that get caught are not even punished much. The large inquisitor has an excellent opinion above, seize (more) property belonging to drug traffickers.
metalman.
At least the story had a happy ending, nobody got hurt. I'm just thinking how glad I am that Kevin1006 doesn't have access to nuclear weapons. I hope he has talked to his doctor about his feelings regarding humans. I am starting to see a familiar pattern here, and my profiler instincts are buzzing.
lol....Aaww we all make some good points but some just don't know how to communicate it in the best of ways. There is some truth to the human comments as there are a lot of stupid things done by people but the manner of those human comments sound funny coming from a human.....

:)

Seize all or any property I agree! Show them that dirty money doesn't go very far.
The problem is not so much the drug but the pushers. This stuff often funds organized crime. Legalizing would go a long way to take possibly millions of dollars out of the hands of those who would do us harm. Not that I have much more faith in the government. If it was legalized, and done well, it would put almost all of the drug monkeys out of business.
Then, if nanna wants to grow some in her back yard because it helps with her arthritis, she can without worrying about big brother. She's only gonna live another 10 years anyways, might as well be happy.
Canadian pot is smuggled into the US and traded on par for cocaine, then smuggled back into Canada. Legalize marijuana and more dope is available to be smuggled into the US to be traded for coke.
Legalization is a naive response.
Quote from Raparee:
"Canadian pot is smuggled into the US and traded on par for cocaine, then smuggled back into Canada. Legalize marijuana and more dope is available to be smuggled into the US to be traded for coke.
Legalization is a naive response."

Huh? This make absolutely no sense.
Maybe you should put your bong down, zoop.

Legalized marijuana means greater access to more pot in Canada. More access to more pot means more smuggling of pot into the US, where the dope is traded on par with coke. The coke is smuggled back into Canada where it has a greater street value than the pot.
The point is that while legalization MAY solve some problems, it will create a lot more.
I agree Raparee. The whole idea of legalization makes me nervous.
Legalization of pot will not increase the amount of it that is smuggled into the US.
The weed thats smuggled into the US is grown by organized crime. You think organized crime will be operating legal grow ops? During prohibition the smuggling of booze was rampant, now it's legal and produced for the most part, under government control. Smuggling of alcohol is now for the most part non existant. The reason pot from BC is smuggled from BC into the states is, our BC bud is the highest quality pot in the world bar non.
It is in very high demand in the states.
The only reason pot is such a problem for some people is that it is illegal. Do these same people have a problem with alcohol? No they don't. Why? Because it is legal. Alcohol is a drug, as is pot. Abuse of any of these will cause problems.
Organized crime doesn't want it legalized because it will cut into their business.
Legalization of marijuana would permit:
-control of growing & harvesting, i.e.
only approved growers, inspected regularly
-control of distribution, again, as with
alcohol, only licensed retailers
-control of thc content, as with alcohol,
there could be basic limits on potency
-control of quantities purchased, there
are numerous ways to make it difficult
for someone to purchase large amounts
My thoughts are that it is sensible to make it legal to use the stuff, but not to produce or distribute it. I am motivated by the desire to put the criminal gangs out of business, not to allow everyone to stagger around stoned. I would rather that we are seen as condoning the use of a substance that is surely not as harmful socially or physically as alcohol, than continue to allow the criminals full control of what is a very, very, established market. I further submit that the market is quite lucrative as well.
Just another layman's opinion.
metalman.
Lostfaith:
"The weed thats smuggled into the US is grown by organized crime. You think organized crime will be operating legal grow ops?"

No, they wouldn't. So why legalize it if the criminal element would still remain?
Raparee:
"No, they wouldn't. So why legalize it if the criminal element would still remain?"

When other gangs arrive on the block and sell pot in other gangs territory, it creates turf wars, drive by shootings, etc.
When government controls it, I would say they would be more or less driven out of business.
Legalize it, pay taxes, smoke it and everyone will be happy :) :) :) lol
Hey why not acrider54? That would be one way the province will "go green" for sure. ;)
Until we all smoke so much of it we forget to grow it...then we all become very cranky and hard to live with....so i've heard.

I still think the best solution is floating around out there somewhere waiting to be found but seizure of property would be a good start.

:)
