Police are asking business owners to place bars on glass doors, and make certain that no money is left in the cash register following the third break and entry in three days at local business.

The thief or thieves gain entry by breaking the glass near the door latch and then gain entry.

Last night Books and Company was broken into, an undisclosed amount of money was taken from the cash register and then the thief fled out the back door.

And bars will put an end to all this thieving in PG!!!
Its not just Business that get broken into. In Pinecone sub there have been at least half a dozen B and Es in the last while. They have even moved into College Heigths. So beef up your security and be aware.

Cheers
OMG!!! Hey business owners---first rule...NEVER NEVER leave cash in the till. You deserve to have your rates increase. That was stupid!

As for bars on windows---no way! Police get off your duffs and patrol! (Yes I get it that you may be understaffed) It is your job RCMP to provide security on the street. Not business owners.
Bars on windows? Hmmm? When I was a kid (a thousand years ago) the only places that had bars were pawnshops and jails. Bars on windows are meant to keep criminals in. Not out.
With the advent of the growing crack problem on the street, you can expect addicts (who just have to have more and more of it) to look high and low for the ability to get the next rock. It is cheap ($20) and they only look far enough to get the next one, that's it.
They will look for the quick, easy opportunity, then the harder ones. All they are looking for is to get the next $20. (SMASH AND DASH)

Do yourself a favor, don't be the easy score. If you do allow yourself to be the easy score, you are doing everybody else a favor.

You can't expect the police to babysit everybody on the street, it's impossible.

The police will have a lot easier time providing security to businesses that are secure. Glass is not a security device.
If the police weren't going the mountains of paperwork from repeat offenders who have 20 plus charges on the go I guarantee they would have more time to patrol and, more importantly these clowns doing the breaks in would already have been locked up rather than going through the turnstiles we call courts.
While it may be true that police are understaffed i still resent them passing on the work of law enforcement and prevention onto us. We shouldnt have to empty our cars and shops of valuables so that the poor wretched criminals are not tempted. We need change. I dont think passing the buck to the public serves anyone well. If we want changes to the RCMP or to the courts then lets face the real problems and not blame the victims. When i hear the police say that leaving a bag in your car is asking for it i want to pull my hair out! I dont think i am asking to be robbed. I do ask that the police and justice system stop making excuses and get tough on crime.
I've got bars on my shop. Whether it's right or wrong, I'd rather not have some p.o.s. trashing my place & causing serious loss of income. No one can respond to an alarm fast enough to prevent significant loss or damage. Common sense in this s**thole if you ask me.
And yet again more cost to the buisness owners. Might as well get rid of some of the cops and use the money to supply bars to all city residents. We can all lock ourselved in while the crooks go free. Second thought, might as well get rid of all the cops.
Suit yourself.
Would you rather leave it up to someone else, or do your part to protect your property? I prefer to take more responsibility myself, I don't have the confidence in a limited number of officers to protect my little piece of the world. Chester
