Prince George – Police have a rustling case on their hands. A 3 year old gelding was taken from a farm south of Stoner sometime during the past month.

The horse is a 3 year old gelding, Arabian/Palomino cross, white in colour and stands 14 to 15 hands tall.

Anyone who may have some information is asked to contact the RCMP and quote file no. 2008-6970

Personally I don't think the horse will ever be seen again. What with all the layoffs and high fuel prices, people will eat horse.
Hang 'em high!
I thought that with the high fuel prices, they'd be riding it to work.
LOL...I was thinking the same thing reasonableman and lostfaith! Too funny. think of the savings! Very green indeed!
huh..you would think as a horse owner they would at least know when the horse was last seen, fed, etc. Sometime during the past month..says a lot.
justamom...most have free reign on property with ample supply of food and shelter. So it really isn't that unusual.
Sneaky. Couldn't this be a greenhorn.

Lots of cougar around, might just be a nag snack now.

The SPCA will be calling...

huh..It is strange in the winter, as horses dont travel far from the feed source.
Someone has to invent a "club" to keep horses from being stolen. ICBC gonna have to pay for this? Horse theft insurance?
"A 3 year old gelding was TAKEN from a farm south of Stoner SOMETIME DURING THE PAST MONTH."

What piece of the puzzle do we not know yet from this story?

If they do not know when the horse was taken, how do they know the horse was taken as opposed to the horse no longer being there for a variety of reasons?

Did they find tracks? Was there a fence which was not breachable?

Guess these questions might sound stupid to someone who keeps horses.

I remember when I used to drive highway 37 a lot and how amazed I was seeing the number of horses along the road in the winter that were apparently put out by guide outfitters to fend for themselves. This sounds almost the same, except that the horse was presumably on private or leasehold property.
Owl, very good questions...forgot that this was a serious notice about a missing gelding.

So I agree with Owl. More questions than answers. (But the hilarity is still there. Why would someone take a horse????)

*still sniggering at the mental image of poor forester rustling up horses for daily commute to unemployment line*
Some people will steal anything. What worries me is that some f***ing retard has taken it, knowing nothing about horseflesh and the poor beast is starving or wounded.
The French, apparently know a lot about horseflesh. Or so I understand. Voolay voo la Flicka? Kest ka say?
I find it interesting that the RCMP are involved. When horses boarding at my place were stolen, they wouldn't do a thing!! I live within 11 km of city centre, so distance shouldn't have been the problem. I checked the horses every day, not once a month, which seems to be the case in the Stoner loss. Incidentally, there is a plant in Ft. McLeod, AB that buys horses for meat.
