As the teachers and several other unions rallied in front of Education Minister Shirley Bond's office hoping to have the Provincial Government open contract negotiations with them, the Select Committee on Finance and Goverment Services was a few blocks down the street, taking submissions for the next budget.
The mandate of the Committee is to take the views on how to address the economic and financial challenges facing the province.
Chaired by Peace River South MLA Blair Lekstrom, the committee was meeting in the city today after holding hearings in Dawson Creek earlier in the day.
In addition to the Council of Seniors, Rosalind Thorn of the Prince George Construction Association was also appearing before the Committee.
The deadline for submissions in the 23rd of this month, and the Committee is to report back to government no later than the 15th of November.
