The Province has received 60 applications to the government's Innovative Clean Energy (ICE) Fund, with project values totalling about $700 million, and seeking nearly $140 million in financial support from the fund.
Applications were received from all regions of the province and represent a broad range of technologies and sectors. Successful applicants will engage in projects that address specific B.C. energy and environmental priorities identified by the government.
The $25-million ICE Fund is designed to accelerate the commercialization of new, clean and renewable energy technologies. Examples of ICE Fund candidate technologies include: solar, ocean, and bioenergy power generation; improvements to electricity transmission and distribution; fuel cells; geothermal; and energy efficiency and conservation technologies.
The ICE fund call for applications ended on March 3, and applications are currently being reviewed. Final funding decisions are expected later this spring.
