Prince George, B.C. - The RCMP have confirmed they have received a request from ICBC to conduct an assessment of the material that they have received from the Corporation and a request to conduct a criminal investigation should it be warranted.

The RCMP Commercial Crime section will now begin looking at the material and are expected to state their position within the next two weeks.

Insiders say the investigation will be focused in the lower mainland and no one was involved in the purchase or dealings with salvage in the Kamloops, Kelowna ,  Williams Lake, Quesnel and Prince George region.

The fall out from the sale and bidding of salvage vehicles from the ICBC shop resulted in the derparture of several managers.

President Paul Taylor also announced he would be  stepping down from his position, although he says it is just coincidental that his departure  comes during this scandal.  Taylor says he had intended to leave the Corporation to take up a job in the private sector.

He knew the end was coming?
I have no sympathy at all for those people involved and I think they most definitely should get the same jail sentence as someone who steals those same cars.

They broke a public trust in their crimes and a strong example needs to made of their conduct. Is it not enough we gave them a gold plated pension, great work hours, and surely nice bonuses... and we paid for it all while they violated that trust.

I think they should get at minimum 8-10 years for those crimes as they were all fraud over $5000 by many multiples with no gray area when involving a position of public trust.
Come on Eagleone, nothing will happen... as usual!
And why do people think we are so negative on this site!
Let us not forget the golden handshake this liar will receive. They have to give him severance, or he will find a lawyer.
That's my opinion.

It's not enough that one person hands in is resignation slip.

The CBC said that Taylor is leaving without the usual golden handshake super package...I would be surprised if that were indeed the case here.

There must be many lower level people who intentionally and knowingly participated in this rip-off scam for years.

I wonder if they are also leaving before they can be held accountable.

Anytime something like this happens, follow the money because in most cases, the money always flows uphill.
The money always tells the tale and as long as there is a buck to scammed,it will keep happening.
Human nature is a funny thing when it comes to greed and the almighty dollar!
This thing is much bigger than we will probably ever really know and
the government would like people to forget that crown corporations are really the government in disguise.
They plan on people forgetting about it just as soon as someone gets thrown to the wolves.
What really interests me is the way Campbell defends Taylor?
Somebody knows a lot more than they are telling!
He's not entitled to severance, he quit his job.
"It's not enough that one person hands in his resignation slip."

I retract this statement. My additional research shows that he has not been charged with anything, the board of directors of ICBC has expressed confidence in him and the RCMP says that a criminal probe at this time does not appear to be warranted.

I have to assume that he is innocent of any involvement and had no knowledge of the chop shop happenings.

However, a full investigation of all the circumstances will take place.
I may be cynical in my view as regards the golden handshake, but I have seen it happen before, where the individual has resigned, then got the severance later.
It is my general assumption that this guy will do the same.

Obviously a class act following a similar embarrassment about a certain Surrey MLA, in VanderZalms day who owned a car lot and sold a written off Fiat (Fiat dealership) to a young lady, and when she went to get it insured was told it din't exist. He got fined $10,000 bucks and had to replace her car. That was in the mid-seventies. As they say, nuthin' new here, folks. Move on. Name upon request.

The north gets the shaft again, we didn't get cut in on the chop shop action. I guess we don't rate.

;-)

It would never happen in this region with Dave Dickson in charge as he has very high ethics!!!
