First of all, the links in the article should be removed so that people do not accidentally fill in the information after clicking on them (I always assume that people are stupid).

Secondly, no one should EVER click on a link in an email and then fill in an online form. If you think that the email is really from your bank (real banks will not send such emails), go to your bank's official site (but not through a link in an email - actually type out the address) and login there.
It's frightening how easy it is to rip off fools. Conversley, it's frightening how many fools there are to get ripped off.
It's only frightening if you're a fool.

Prince George becomes a hot bed for scammers only because of the number of fools.

When security guards insist that a plane be wiped down because AIDS supporters were on it, and the news carries the story, it attracts the con artists to what appears to be a rich deposit of fools.

Get an education, people. A mind really is a terrible thing to waste.
Well the number of people that believe second hand smoke or road dust is killing them certainly is a good indication that PG is going to be a hot spot for those looking for fools to exploit. (I'm a non-smoker and old mill town boy). I'm not in favour of smoke or road dust either, but the Chicken Little family is alive and doing quite well in PG. Cluck-cluck!

So many silly people has to be a huge attraction to run out other con artist ideas.
"It's only frightening if you're a fool."

Don't be flattered, this scam has been going on for years and is not limited to PG and it has nothing to do with the local news articles.
Although PG may have lots of fools, we do not have them all. I hear there are some down east.
Just a point, I have received some of this kind of phishing which DID have my name on it. Anyone can buy an e-mail list with names attached for a few dollars. Don't underestimate the cleverness of criminals.

Often poor English is a tip off, since the center for many of them is Nigeria. NEVER respond to any e-mail like this, nor any other which requires SIN number, bank or credit card data or has promises of untold riches.
"Although PG may have lots of fools, we do not have them all. "

I'm sure that's true, but my point was more about the fact that a number of people in PG recently have made me feel that they would be amazed at the concept of indoor plumbing and flush toilets, and would also be confident that it's just a fad that will never catch on.
We are all fools.

Every few weeks we see another media item about credit card theft by double swiping or garbage mining etc and therefor we are warned and advised to never let our credit card out of sight and to protect our records to prevent this.

Yet when you get your tank filled up at Save-On in Parkwood you are asked to leave your credit card in a tray with everyone else's card while you fill up, and then retrieve it afterwards.

I do not understand why the new legislation did not demand that all gas stations put in pay at the pump equipment.

If everybody paid for their gas with **cash** it would make it worthwhile for the robbers to rob gas stations. If this was happen they would very quickly go back to the old way of doing business. As it is they now have the control, and all of us **fools** fall into line. The oil companies are the pied pipers, and we are the children that blindly follow behind them. **Suckers one and all**
Fill your tank at a pay at the pump equipped station. It is very simple, even I learned to do it, it must be simple. I resisted the notion just on general principals, now that I 'have' to pay at the pump, I like it. It is actually quicker than going in to wait for the clerk.
metalman.
A few years back I learned I couldn't pay my BC Hydro bill with cash. Too many robberies. Maybe if there is enough banks being robbed they won't take money anymore. Could happen. Mr. Spock logic does not apply anywhere in this country anymore. Very sad.
rufus1! Asked to leave your credit card in a tray while you fill up? I can't believe anyone would be so trustworthy and foolish. I'm not leaving my card with anyone for any length of time.

It will pass through the machine and back into my wallet. Does everyone put 100% trust in the service station attendant? I don't, mainly because I don't know them from Adam.

Yah, I know, it's a pain to pay first, but so what. I't my card and my credit information is what I'm more concerned about. Not about stealing gas. Chester

I do not understand why people do not pretend its cash.... I assume you would have to pay $60 or whatever in that case, and the pump will stop after it allows the purchase of $60. So just run $60 through the card, sign off on it, and pump the gas.

If they do not have that capability, then they need to upgrade their equipment one way or another, or risk losing customers. I am sure they will figure that out eventually, if people actually start not going there.
Canadian Tire has pay at the pump, and I also get five cents a litre in "Crappy Tire" money per litre!! I own a cab, fill up twice a day!!! Has anybody ever figured out how much food and fuel they have to buy fron "Jimmy" to get a free coffee pot??? Talk about "fools"LOL

taxinapothole
I agree with Taxi,

I quit buying from Save-on gas bar when they slashed the points per litre in half, and now gas up at CDN Tire. Five cents a litre added up so quickly with my truck that last spring I was able to buy a set of golf clubs for $3 dollars all because of CDN Tire money.
I think this pay before you fill, is just crap. Especially when reading about some stations putting a $100 hold on credit cards.

I buy my gas locally and one of our stations has gone back to-full service!..

I love it..and obviously so does everyone else. They are extremely busy these days..people are spending a fortune on junk food and beverages.

I notice the other station is very quiet...and most pay at the pump and leave...no instore purchases!...no line ups..and looks like not very many customers. Not to mention thier gas is almost 10 cents a litre higher!.
justamom -- where you do buy your gas? it sounds great!

Point of information. The Shell at Nicholson and 15th no longer sells gas. To much expense to upgrade the equipment.

One less gas station, o darn.
Want to double your Air Miles today by buying a chocolate bar or chips. Who the heck is behind this get fatter at the gas station promotion? Thanks, but no thanks. Chester
Apparently, the original article just evolved into a chat line ???
To justamom: What a load of crap!! Get your facts straight, before you open your mouth!! There is not one gas station in this city that is 10 cents a litre higher than anybody else!! I put on about 300 KLM a shift, and I watch the price of fuel, as do my fellow cab drivers!!

What does it matter??? If you pay before you pump, or after you pump, either way you are going inside!!

There is always a line up inside at CDN Tire, people buying all kinds of things!!!

You see, at Cdn Tire, you have to go inside to get your "Crappy Tire Money"!! How's that for marketing????
