Prince George, B.C. – For the second time in a month, the 5th Avenue Liquor store has been the target of an attempted hold up.

And as happened the first time round, the  would be thief was captured between the two locking doors.  It's a system the store owner calls his "rat trap."

According to the RCMP, a 39 year old female from Prince George, entered the 5th Avenue Liquor Store Saturday night, brandishing an axe and wearing a balaclava.

The  would be thief shouted at the female clerk and chopped at the counter.  She was given the change drawer, and  when to tried to leave,  was tackled by a 41 year old customer who  wrestled the axe away from the  woman, and the clerk then locked the inner door leaving the would be thief trapped between two  locked doors.

The suspect then pulled out a large knife and tried to pry open the outside locked door, but failed to free herself.  She was arrested by police when they arrived.

RCMP say although they would like to  thank the 41 year old male for  his assistance in apprehending the suspect,  they  would like to remind the public there is a danger in  tackling a suspect because they never know what other  weapons a  criminal may have on their person or what accomplices may be  waiting nearby.

Too bad she didn't fall on her knife. Might have to lay off a judge or give the judge sometime to oil his revolving door.
Too bad the trap opens.....
They should have tazered her for practice.
You seriously can`t call these three posts comments.

I have heard more reasonable and meaningfull communication from a three week old new born....

Waste of hyper space!
Ya, Runner46 would never fall for that old "rat trap" trick!
I wish I could have a similar system in my taxi!!
Although risky, Kudos to the man who helped in the suspects apprehension. The suspect could have very well jumped in a stolen vehicle, caused a high speed pursuit and took the lives of innocent victims. Seems PG is fulfilling its CrimeTown Statistics for 2008. I suspect the speeding quotas are high priority in and the drug problem is being ignored. HIGHtime for a CRACKdown. Or is this the result of economic downturn?
Well spoken, pee pulp. It is high time to focus on the drug problems. Too bad it is such unsatifying work for the fuzz, a lot of effort just to have some judge turn the filth free. All they end up doing is inconveniencing the vermin. It is so much easier to pick on (dare I say prey upon?) the common taxpayer, the ones who obediently pull over when ordered to, and who pay their fines. The best of us also give up a seat in the doughnut shop for the gallant officers when they come in for a quick break.
metalman.
Nah, I don't think it was a good idea intervening.

If the store was properly handling their money they might have been out maybe $200?

Having said that, I probably would have as well... if only from reaction.... only to wonder later.... if it was the right thing.

Glad no one was hurt.
First Step "Rat Trap" next to terminate her
freedom and ban them all to exile Island, there you can become a "Survivor".
You can't blame judges and cops for doing what they can.

Judges have to abide by the law, same as everyone else. They have sentencing guidelines they have to follow. If they don't, it just gets appealled and overturned anyway.

What we need is more effective anti-drug legislation: mandatory detox and rehab for druggies, and mandatory jail time and heavy fines for dealers. Reduce the core drug market, while increasing the cost of business. Organized crime is a business, and it's time for a recession in this underground economy.
to the comment of "If the store was properly handling their money they might have been out maybe $200?"

it is not the point of how much money the business is going to lose, it is that once a business has been targeted and hit up, and if it is an easy job, word gets around quickly and you will see that business hit again and again!!

however you can tell the lack of mentality by these would be thieves, cause it wasn't that long ago that the first guy got caught in the trap!!

imho
Hey Outwest.. Check this out..

Warning.. has some bad language but we dont need to sugar coat everyting in life.. Cheers!
Should also make the rat trap airtight so the oxygen can be sucked out til the RCMP arrive.
There should be a light-up sign on the front window, that lights up when the trap is triggered.

"Idiot On Display"
The thought just occured to me that a trap door might be a great idea. Pull the lever and your thieves, aggressors and the like will be collected in a steel cage that they dropped into for collection by the local RCMP. Chester
I want to buy one of those doors and build a fake liquor store around it.

It's a little more money than a Nintendo game system, but twice as much fun !
