Apparently it was a trapper that caught him and tied him to a tree, and then called the cops. it does sound like the old trapper let his dogs on him before the cops got there.

This trapper should of used the rifle on him, killed him, cut his head off, and put his head on a pole in the middle of Merrit. Then Merrit could of gathered around and celebrated big time!!!!

This fellow that caught Schoenborn offered his services as a tracker to the police in the becinning but they refused. He took it on his own initiative to track Schoenborn down. I believe the police have some answering to do about how they have handled this whole case. Come on cops leather to the ground, you can't see anything in the bush riding in a helicopter.

Maybe the trapper should have put a trap on the guys balls and drag him into town.

I would think it takes a brave person to go into the bush and search for someone like Schoenborn . The trapper has done a wonderful thing by finding this man. Why would the police of refused his services earlier ?
Would it of been an insurance issue or something ? how many man hours were spent on this case ? It would of been better to put the trapper on payroll and get the job done and make the community safe
It just shows that the police are not trained properly, or maybe they have to do to much paperwork instead of just getting the job done.
The poor children did not deserve this, the system has failed again, God Bless them.

Its because the Force and it's higher ups can be so god dammed arrogant, thinking they and technology can do the job better than a skilled woodsman. Time was we'd have welcomed anyone who'd have the know how....now that is community policing!

Lets be thankful that no one else was hurt in this process and that he is now in custody. To the trapper who found him: You are truly a brave and courageous man. Thank you for getting this sick man off our streets.

you are all right!!! At the end of the day, our justice system is screwed up really bad!! I think the trapper should have administered justice, where he found Schoenborn, the old fashioned way!!! God bless the children and the mother of this horrible tragedy!!

If we are to assume her hypothetical story than she sounds like a crack head that left her children with another unstable crack head. In that kind of situation anything is possible and I'm sure we haven't heard the last twist to this case... rumor I heard (from a local) has it the mother wrote on the wall in blood something like forever young. Doesn't seem normal to me, but they say it was in the others writing... I think we now have two people in custody and only now will the Merrit community start to get closer to the truth.

The whole thing is another sick episode of untreated crack head side effects IMO.

Look, nothing against Mr. Kim Robinson, who is the tracker that went into the bush on his own initiative, full marks to him, I am sure he is a brave man all the time. The fact is, this schoenborn character is a coward. What other kind of creature could or would strangle the life out of a child? I heard Mr. Robinson in an interview this morning on CBC, he said
"I just told him to stay, and he did. He was more afraid of me than I was of him" That tells me the quarry he sought was not a brave, or dangerous man. Put him alone in a room with children however, and he is a force to be reckoned with, apparently. If this guy was smart, he would have been long gone out of the Merritt area. If this guyu was brave, he would have fought Mr. Robinson and his dogs. So nothing against Mr. Robinson, but the perp is a twerp.
And, I offer my apologies, for assuming the guy is guilty, based on what the media is feeding us, which is based on what the fuzz feed them, and hearsay of course. The info above from Eagleone is the first I have heard about drugs being involved, my god, if any of that is true, I fear for our civilization.

Actually he was NOT found by the 'trapper'. He was found by a guy walking his dogs who then flagged down the mountain man. Kim, with his gun and dog then 'subdued' Shoenborn , who as i understand it, was in rough shape from exposure after 10 days or so in the bush.
I have NO sympathies for someone who kills or even endangers children. However, i think we are going off the rails when we promote some guy to the rank of Daniel Boone based on misinformation and a healthy dose of bragging.
