The  allocations for the $12 million dollars the Province promised in the latest budget for mineral and  oil and gas research have been announced.

Geoscience BC will be getting $5.7 million  for projects to enhance the exploration and development of oil and gas.

The money will be used for projects such as regional airborne  geophysical surveys with a focus on the Horn River Basin, in thenorth east part of B.C. , one of the hottest areas in oil and gas rights sales.

The money  is the second announcement in  4 days, as the Premier announced on Friday $6.3 million for Geoscience B.C. to  carry out mineral data collection projects for the region west of Prince George to Terrace and Kitimat.

In both  areas, the  research may include surveys involving planes or helicopters.

when the price for a barrel of oil is $117, I guess they want to do more research.
Twelve million of my tax dollars to find more fuel with which to empty my pockets further. Sound fair.
Twelve million of my tax dollars to find more fuel with which to empty my pockets further. Sounds fair. I added the "s" in the word sound. Shows I ain't no functional illiterate.
Petition to bring gas prices to 79.9 across Canada :)

Silly goose! Governments don't listen to angry mobs nor does they bow to petitioners whims. I sure wouldn't want a government like that. I wish toast and coffee was thirty five cents like it was in 1970. 79.9 per litre was history so much like .35c toast and coffee. Gas prices are here to stay and rise. Best thing you can do is prioritize. Gas instead of ??? What? You choose. Hurt another industry or company by redirecting or neglecting to purchase things or services. Maybe one day many years down the road the governments will say, "Gee! No one is spending. I wonder what the problem is?". You have the power. We all have the power. Gee whiz!I have my gas tank full. Now what do I not need? Your choice. Short on dough makes it easier to find what you can live without.
Could this 12 million be a subsidy for free enterprise? I was under the impression they could get along nicely on their own without any government interference.
Everything and everyone is subsidized except the lowly taxpayer. Doncha know? Apply for a subsidy yourself. But ya gotta have a gimmick first. Think hard.
Did anyone read the Sat. Globe and Mail?? New gas/oil is in northeastern BC and south eastern Saskatchewan in the west!!! They have now figured out how to get it out of the deposits. The Nechako Basin is a long way in the future, if at all. Read $200 a barrel oil or more.Dream on!!!!!!!!!!
In 1970 mom said she would stop driving if the price ever reached $1.00/ gallon! A good union wage was $2.95/hr at the time.

So what should the price of gas be now?

About $12.00/ gallon. In French that is abot $2.65/liter. Gas is still a bargin compared to what our parents paid.
Good point Yama.
Problem is,wages are not keeping pace anymore with rising costs fuel,housing,food,etc.etc.
The stinky stuff is really gonna hit the fan when some of these big wage contracts start coming due.
Should be interesting!
What big wage contracts might those be? Translink, BC ferries board of dikrectors, or the nice pay raises for MLAs
