Very little remains of  this log home that went up in flames this morning click on photo  for brief video

Salmon Valley, B.C. – There isn’t much left of a   Grayfair Road log home in Salmon Valley.

The volunteer fire department Chief for that community, Garry Darbon, says the call came in just before ten this morning. Pilot Mountain offered some help in the way of a tender (water truck) “We have no fire hydrants” says Darbon, so the assistance from Pilot Mountain was much appreciated.  Things could have been worse says Darbon, as the flames could have easily spread to the trees which surround the rural home.

There was only person at the home when the fire started.  Wade Weetman was doping some painting for the homeowners and stepped outside for a moment when he noticed flames on the cedar shake roof “I don’t think it was a chimney fire” says Wheetman “Because there were no sounds like you would hear with a chimney fire.”

No one hurt,  and it will take some time to establish the cause of the fire and the value of the loss.

Wow good thing the fire didn't spread to those trees or things could have been worse. Can you imagine the devastation? Umm allrighty then.
I get his point, a fire in the trees could have whipped through most of Salmon Valley, this is not the only home on that road....
Ok, but what part of those poplar trees shown in the photo, are going to explode into a raging fire?
Terrible news.
does Salmon Valley get a bill from Pilot Mountain for the use of the tender. Or does the people of Pilot Mountain get the bill.
didn't think they had that mutual aid agreement sign yet ??????
Have to agree with Lost faith.

Cotton wood or poplar trees are probably full of sap right now, so it will likely not contribute that much to the fire. The snow on the ground will contain spreading of fire on the ground.
