Event Set For Forestry Workers

Prince George, B.C. – The Forestry roundtable is set to hold a session in Prince George this Saturday, but in a week’s time, there will be a special information session for displaced forestry workers.
On Saturday May 10th local area educational and skills training service providers will set up at the Prince George Civic Centre to provide information to workers and family about services that are available to assist people in this difficult time.
The project is co-sponsored by the United Steelworkers Local 1-424, College of New Caledonia and M. Turner& Associates.
It is expected there will be 16 booths and there are some goodies to go along with this event.
The first 400 will receive a free steel lunch box (one per family) and there will be free hot dogs and refreshments throughout the 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. event.
The United Steel workers Local 1-424, have partnered to organize this public event which is open to all forest workers. The Union has received financial support from the Province of BC to assist with the costs of the event and follow up work in other communities.
