Quesnel, B.C. - The City of Quesnel is making applications for some funding.

It will apply to the General Strategic Priorities Fund for 100% funding for $934,100. The grant would be used to make entrance improvements at the Quesnel Municipal Landfill. The concept plan includes adding weigh scales, fencing, gates and road improvements.

Quesnel is also going to apply, (through the Quesnel Community and Economic Development Corporation) for $1.7 million from the Western Economic Diversification fund. The money would go towards repairs for the Fraser River Foot bridge.

I wonder if parts parts of the Cameron Street Bridge are in good enough shape and appropriately sized to sell to Quesnel?

Not quite sure how it will help to diversify the West, though. Keep a tourist attraction?

Now I know why we are getting rid of ours since it is far too short to be able to become #1 if we had kept it as a foot bridge ........

Our bridge is about 180 metres long with 4 spans; the Quesnel bridge is about 250 metres long with 5 spans.

;-)
It's about time they put a bypass through Quesnel. That Front Street is a joke for a major highway.
Entrance improvements? How about our First Avenue entrance? Why not send five Caterpillar D-9s side by side along the north side of First Avenue starting at the overpass and head west until they run out of fuel? Then do something nice or just plant nice grass. Prince George is not beautiful.
It is too bad that first avenue of our city is predominantly not set up for tourist. We need to get Allen Scrap off of 2nd avenue.

We need to turn it into commercial businesses, not light industrial.

We need to get CN so busy that they need to move out of this area, into where they can run it more efficiently.

The city can then buy this huge tract of land, and then develop it the way it should be. We need a draw into our city.
