Prince George., B.C. -  Mayor Colin Kinsley will be using his opening remarks to the Northern Municipal Association convention this morning to make an  announcement about his  future in local government.

There has been a great deal of speculation about Kinsley's plans  for the  election this fall.  It is widely speculated Kinsley will step aside opening the door for Councilor Don Zurowski to take a shot at the Mayor's chair. That speculation  increased when Zurowski  stepped down from Community Futures.

Mayor Kinsley is a Past President of the NCMA.

One does not use an occasion like that to make an announcement that one will run again ......

So, the announcement becomes obvious .....
say it ain't so!!
What is that you say? Our Mayor using an inappropriate situation to make an inappropriate comment? Nahhhhh. Never happen. My gut says he'll run 1 more time, but my heart hopes that he'll just mosey off into the sunset. Maybe he'll buy that summer place in China that he's always dreamed of? ? ?
My guess is one more time!
I think he's done
Kinsley has probably had enough. I'm not so sure that any replacement is going to be better. Kinsley had faith in the people of this town and would go to bat for them. I don't see anyone else doing that - more CEO or BS type people that want to replace Kinsley. Sad day, but I'm thinking Kinsley wants some time out of the spot light now.
I hope he does us all a favour and leaves, however if he doesnt we still have an opportunity to kick him out at the next election, which will be his reward for driving us into debt.

He has a number of irons in the fire, not the least of which is the olympics in China later this year and the olympics in Vancouver in 2010. In addition he is Vice President of the World Winter Cities Association for Mayors. Prince George was chosen to host the 2010 WWWAM conference.

The 2008 conference is set for Nuuk Greenland, which he will no doubt attend.

He has a number of reasons to stay on, but probably wants to leave on a high note.
As I posted here on this site a couple of months ago, he will not be running in the next election. I had the inside scoop :)
OWL FOR MAYOR AND VIKINGNUCK FOR COUNCIL!!!

Then our city will shine...
He probably doesn't wanna be around when the city has to cough up $400 thousand for that airline bet. IMO.
It's official...and I lose!
I win.
And I for one won't miss him a bit
