Prince George, B.C. – The Emergency Operations Committee for Prince George will meet again this afternoon to assess the situation with the Fraser River.

The Fraser has been rising since the warm temperatures over the weekend. Although the weather has cooled, the rainfall is adding more to the  river.

Deputy Fire Chief Kelly Gilday says flood notices have been given out to some who live in low lying areas “We are also making available some sand bags to those who want them. These are left over from the ice jam so they are already filled.”

Once again, it is the people who live in the Paddle Wheel Park area who are looking at possible flooding.
Last year, the Fraser peaked at 9.84 meters, today it has already hit 9.5 and is still rising.

“We are meeting again this afternoon” says Deputy Chief Gilday, “ we haven’t declared any state of local emergency, yet.”

They are takingout the gabion diking on river road so we don't need to worry about flooding.
Maybe they are relocating it to Farell? lol...perhaps the city could take the gravel berm and move that to protect homes along the Fraser? Would be of better use...oh, right I forgot, that would mean they have common sense.
*shakes head*
