Fraser Lake, B.C. - The Village of Fraser Lake will study the development of a new waterfront recreation site for residents and tourists, thanks to an investment by the Federal Government through Western Economic Diversification Canada.

Federal funding of $80,000 has been announced under the Community Economic Diversification Initiative (CEDI), a component of the federal Mountain Pine Beetle Program.

Funding will help the Village of Fraser Lake to hire a consultant to undertake an environmental assessment of a proposed waterfront recreation site on Fraser Lake. Once that is completed and approved, the consultant will undertake a feasibility study to examine ways to develop the waterfront as a year-round tourist attraction. The study will identify business opportunities, costs, financial forecasts, potential users and potential linkages to other similar facilities.

"We are very pleased with the support and partnership of the federal government on this project," said Mayor Richard Bisanz. "We intend on welcoming new visitors to share in the experience offered by our community, to maintain its natural beauty and develop the necessary amenities to facilitate public access. This project will strengthen our economy and provide it with a great outlook."

A great idea!
This would be an asset to Fraser Lake and a perfect spot for it very close to town!
Get it done!
Hey Andy notice its another study by a consultant in this case. Sound familiar? That will probably chew up the 80 grand.

Cheers
I did notice that Bridge, but hopefully something good will come from it sooner than later.
Hopefully, this "consultant" will be someone local or at least from the area, who needs the work!
The two major industries seem normally quiet whenever the village tries to do something positive to develop other industries .Their social responsibilities are non existant with literally millions taken out monthly - soon to be daily clear profits after expenses, when approached by a group of mothers for a donation to the playground were told "they pay taxes and that was enough" so i guess they will have to tie the local taxes to the price of the product leaving the area, wow what a play ground you could build with that serious dough! you would think they would have a P.R. person that could fix the error of their ways before it's to late.
now for the insult to injury part- the same major industry last week asked the same mothers to open their homes to billet a couple of hundred construction workers this coming year for the expansion project at the plant, yeah sure these mothers never went to the same greedy corporate school the donaters were from, they will only be and to happy to help discuss the situation with kevin loughrey the C.E.O. ,a stupid move like this should have the perpatrator hand mucking under their unstable pit walls for the rest of his life.kevin you owe these moms an apology and a damn healthy donation(tax deductable of course)
I would like to comment to Northern Taxpayer-

I understand and respect how hard it is to raise money in smaller communities such as FL. It's tough-with a small business base. Fund raising relys on community and local support.
You have to consider both parties though. Businesses recieve at least 3-10 requests for donations per week.

These businesses -no matter how large have an annual budget. There is only so much they are willing to donate and you must respect that.

Furthermore the notice from this 'major industry' did infact request accommodations for workers- but lets not lead people astray- bulletors would be financially compensated:ie-rent, etc. You could simply put your name on a list; for future consideration, if you were interested.

I think you have taken a mighty silly step with your personal anger. It certainly reflects on these small non-profit organizations. Personal attacks should be made with the greatest of consideration; when involving other parties.
I would also like to make things clear to other posters. This playground is for a local school- school=taxes.

Most of us feel as though we pay more than enough taxes.
As a resident of FL. I am very dissapointed with this posters comments. Our non-profit groups do a great job. For a small community it is truely amazing the amount of progress they make. Its sad to see someone pointing fingers and name calling because they did not ge what they wanted. Rather childish.
