Prince George, B.C. - Gas stations in Prince George have peeled a full penny off the price of a litre of gas from the pre-long weekend high of 134.9  That means  right now,  Prince George drivers ar paying 133.9 for a litre of regular.

Not the case in Vanderhoof yeterday where the price of a litre of regular was 127.9 and better yet, at the Brookside resort at the west end of Cluculz Lake,  gas was  126.9 per litre.

So, if, as the gas station operators in Prince George tells us, the reason for the high price is volume and transportation costs can someone tell us just where the refinery is near Cluculz Lake or Vanderhoof, and  just how much more volume would the Brookside Resort do with it's one lonely pump?

By the way, the Canadian Center for Policy Alternatives Gas Gouge meter indicates that at $1.34 per litre, Prince George drivers are still paying  nearly 2 cents too  much.

"With today's crude oil price of $130.75 USD per barrel and the US dollar at $0.99 CAD, the price of regular unleaded gasoline in Prince George should be $1.32 per litre at normal profit margins.

At a price of $1.34 per litre, you are paying 1.8¢ per litre in pure excess profit. Across Canada, an extra margin of 1.8¢ per litre generates an additional profit of 1.8 million dollars per day."

That also means the Brookside resort is selling Gas at 5.2 cents a litre BELOW the  normal profit margin.

Last weekend gas was 125.9 at Frazerlake.
The PIGS in Prince George had the price hiked to the max. Christ ya thinked they worked fer the goverment.
When I go out west they get my business.
They are open 6 am - 11 pm.
And the best part....
it is trucked form PG.
Could never figureout how they can truck it that far ans stell sell it for less than her in PG.

And the yanks are selling gas for 99 cents a liter and cring about it....
$127.9 in Fort st.James at the Petro.
Ben is right,if we are told something long enough, eventually we start to believe it!
Something very wrong in Prince George!
I wonder if people stuck together and picked on one station at a time, if it would make any difference?
If nobody bought ANY gas from a particular staion period,I wonder if it would make a difference?
If it did, then we could move on to boycotting the next one and so on.
The station owners blame the refineries, but I seriously doubt they are telling the whole truth!
The only way that I can see would make a bit of difference is to find a way to squeeze them!
But then, good luck getting people to stick together!
Brookside also has incredible fresh cinnimon buns around noon...fresh out of the oven...yummy.
Wrinkledog, I work for the government, so whats this all got to do with me?
Gas is still 125.9 in FL. They said they have never been so busy selling gas-(long weekend). A lot of people were here from PG, litterally filling every jerry can they had!..and loading up thier tanks.

In town its 127.9 but the small gas station just west its always about 2 cents cheaper..and ..its full service !
the oil companies are owned by the same two new york banks that are loaning -printing money for our governments so you can see where the strings are tied. they try to make it appear as there is competition ,but guaranteed - the price of gas is controlled by them, many other lucrative things are as well.-any way out of this? yes- pay off the debt and hang any politician who borrows money on our behalf. now you can feel a monoply in action on your wallet.anti-combine laws are not worth the paper they are written on ,they just tie the strings to them too. look at the defiant weasels in yesterdays congressional hearings-untouchable and will destroy any nation that gets in their way-bring back the guillotine -start at the top like the french did over a century ago.
Gas is now 133.9 in vanderhoof
Gas is cheaper in Fraser Lake because of the gas stations (both of them) on the reserves. I wish the natives would open a gas station or two here in Prince. Thing is the station has to be on reserve land. Oh well, I'll just ride my bike more.
I noticed that the Petro in Fort St.James seems to only raise their price AFTER they have a new delivery, based on the price they pay at that time?
There 3 stations right in town, and Petro always seems to be the last to raise their prices.
Good for them and they will get my business!
And yes, they are on reserve land, but that only helps if you have a status number.
Whenever I leave PG I always buy gas down the road, most times its cheaper. The same comming home, I fill up out of town, that also sometimes works.

Not defending the oil companies but the overall price is driven by supply and demand. Also I read that 1/4 of the price is speculation in the markets. Now localized prices, thats just scamming.

You won't get it from the main media but so called man caused global warming is falling apart. One of the latest is 31,000 scientists have signed a petition denouncing man caused global warming. That is against only a couple of dozen that will actually sign the UN's charter on global warming. Folks climate change is natural, it has always gone up and down.

When politicians get on the side of something, that should make one suspicious.
I don't know about all of the above, but for the last two months I have been buying my diesel fuel from the Husky in the b.c.r. site. they have been a consistent 5 cents cheaper (the super save and shell too) than any where else in town, and some times as much as 8 or 9 cents cheaper. In contrast , the other husky stations have been the highest. I went to fill up last night though and found that the bargain was no more. So why can they too sell for less? I had a chat with the owner of one of these husky/mohawk stations a few years ago, he said the oil company sets the price, and he only makes a couple of cents per litre. So who is telling the truth?
metalman.
The petro in the fort also has full service and a smile.People complain that it is unfair.I see it as good for them they are taking atvantage of the system to put people to work. Now if you go to Vanderhoff and use extra foods and take discount coupons into the store to buy food that you have to buy anyway it drops the price by .04 a litre. now you at 1.23 per.Boston bar in the middle of the canyon was 1.21 on monday nite.hmmmmmmmmm
FL has a station in town as well, not on reserve property. It's been 127.9 for nearly 2 weeks now. I keep waiting for the hike after hearing PG's prices have jumped. Faithfully it's always considerably less than PG prices.

You would require a status card to recieve an additional discount on your fuel at the other 2 stations. The price I posted is for non-status pricing.

Oh and also a free coffee with your fill up..so no wonder why its packed at all times!
