Quesnel, B.C. – The Fraser River level has dropped in Quesnel, but the evacuation alerts remain in effect as does the Flood Warning in that city.
Here are some of the highlights of the Quesnel situation:
- The Fraser River fell overnight to 471.45 m (down from 471.5 m on Thursday).
- The evacuation alert remains in place for residents in the low-lying areas of Bartel’s Trailer Court. An evacuation alert is simply an advisory, a means of letting residents know they should begin preparing for a potential evacuation.
The City of Quesnel Public Works has closed:
1. The Johnston Loop due to high water (as happens almost every year).
2. The North Fraser Drive Loop on the west side and opened up the Elliott St. exit onto the bridge.
3. The entire Riverfront Trail on the east side of the Fraser River.
The City of Quesnel will continue monitoring the situation over the weekend and will issue an update Monday morning.
