Prince George - The extent of the damage in a fire at the CANFOR North Central Plywood Division in The BCR Industrial Site,  is not known at this time,  as fire fighters continue to battle the blaze.

The fire broke out at the mill at about 6PM. Whether there are any injuries is not known. The fire has engulfed a large section of the mill which produces plywood in the Canfor chain.

A person who identified himself as the mill Manager, Reg Thurlborn ordered all media off the site and we were unable to obtain any information as to whether there were any injuries, how the fire started or other information.

Fire Chief Jeff Rowland arrived on the scene of the blaze at about 7.45PM. And we expect to get an update from him early on in the evening.

Lots of smoke in our area right now!Guessing it's coming from this fire. Hope everyone is ok!!!
My heart sinks seeing this. I trust all have been accounted for.It is going to a long night.
PG sure is getting a beating.......When will it stop?
Wow..this is NOT good!
Let's hope the damage is kept to a minimum!
I live out in Pineview and just came home from town. It looks like one entire side of the mill is up in flames. It doesn't look like it is minimal that is for sure. The fire looks like it is going strong as well. On the way up Husky Hill, RCMP have one southbound lane blocked off as there are vehicles lining both sides of the hill, and people over on the right hand lane of the southbound lane.
The whole mill will be a large rubble pile in the morning. The flames can be seen from up on St. Lawrence Heights!!!!!
There are 1.2 million litres of Diesel Fuel about 300 or so feet away from the mill site... wow if they go up!!!!!!!!
I just drove home from work in the BCR site at 10 and the flames and smoke were unbelievable. I hope everyone got out of the buildings.
Previous mill manager confirmed fire started in dryers
I wonder if Canfor is any mood to rebuild a plywood plant in PG?
Lots of people going to be out of work for a long time now.
I attended the ALR Exclusion application at Blackburn and the crowd was in favor of the application. Good timing if the board approves it for PG, now that the jobs at the plywood plant are gone.
My just just called me from down there, he says it's fully engulfed and on the verge of collapsing.
this just seems typical of canfor. burn it down then they dont have to pay severence

Just came from the fire and shes finished.
No mill left.
can you confirm there is no mill left?
News on the radio says the mill has been destroyed. I guess I'll be leaving soon to find work.
No mill left. Finito. Another blow to the industry.
That picture looks like it was taken quite some time ago. The entire thing is gone. It's all gone. It will probably burn all day tomorrow.
The Mill is no more... I saw it for myself.
Hard day for Prince George... My heart goes out to my dad and all his fellow workers and there families and all those who were involved with NCPlike we were, in one way or another. Its an extreamly hard thing to go through...

Uhmmm yup, I can confirm there is no mill left
I just came by there is no mill left and ther e is something else totaly engulfed behind the truck repair place.
It's gone, it will still be burning in the morning tho, lots of veneer in there, I hope it's contained to the mill site, this could get worse yet.
There are now multiple fires burning in the BCR industrial site, over a mile away from NCP.
Two more fire trucks just flew down 5th. This is awful news. I am praying (and crying too) for all employees, their families, the firefighters and business owners. So very, very heart breaking. I plan on walking down tomorrow to take a boo. I will have tissue on hand if any one cares to join me to mourn this loss to PG.

I heard from a trucker that Interior Warehousing across from the new Freightliner building is also burnt to the ground and there are supposed to be two other fires burning as well for a total of 4 buildings burning. Not a good day fro PG.
There are definitely 3 large fires burning at this moment in the BCR. And they are spread quite far apart. No idea what buildings they are.
