Prince George, B.C. -  It will be a few days  before McInnis Lighting on Fourth Avenue is back up and running.

A dumpster fire overnight caused  lots of  damage  to the rear of the building, and smoke damage inside.

The neighbouring store, Dandy Lines, was not damaged.

Investigators are considering arson as a possible  cause of the dumpster blaze.

So why don't people shop downtown?
This looks exactly like what happened to B&B Music.
Maybe an ember floated all the way down town into their dumpster... Haha lol
As a former employee, my heart goes out to my former coworkers, as well as Paul and his family. This is an awful blow to them. IMO, it does look like arson because the dumpster appears to be in a spot it normally is not. Hopefully, this business will be up and running again sooner rather than later.

They are soo lucky that is was extinguished when it was! Could have been much, much worse.

Keep your chins up guys and gals!!

This fire was predictable, and so are all the fires we will have in the downtown in the future. People sleeping on the streets, and in dumsters etc; are a natural cause of fires. (Fires mean warmth)

Until we take control of the downtown people, and if necessary throw some in jail for an extended period, we are making no progress.

Most used phrases by the downtown down and outers.

**What the F... are you looking at.**

**Go F... yourself**

We have to progress from here. Whats the odds?.
Palopu, I was about to wreak havoc on your comments and then I realized what you meant. So in a mild agreement with you, locks and chains are there for dumpsters. Question: Any one know if the dumpster was secure for the night? Mind you, probably a moot question anyways as a determined individual will find a way around it anyways as with any security system/deterent.

(oh and just so you know why initially I wanted to jump all over your post, was because the fire is such a huge hit to another long time employer in PG)
That fire would have done little damage if the building was brick or concrete block or even stucco ..... vinyl siding is not the best material to use on buildings. Especially in such locations ..... higher risk.

Let's see what they clad it with when they repair it.
Locking up your garbage, eh? Now I've heard everything. (almost)
yeah..locking dumpsters was something started in other communities to keep bears out.
