Quesnel, B.C.- Ten overdue canoeists were the subject of a search and rescue on the Bowron Lakes Chain Monday night.

RCMP say there were two groups of ten canoeists traversing the chain and were navigating the Cariboo River when two canoes in the second group overturned in the river.

When the group failed to meet with the lead group at the rendezvous point, assistance was requested.

Quesnel Search and Rescue, assisted by Prince George Search and Rescue, BC Parks and Aberdeen Helicopters, were on scene this morning at about 5:00. They located the canoeists near Turner Creek about an hour and a half later. A BC Parks jet boat was used to help the group gather its equipment and rejoin their comrades.

No one hurt, and the two groups continued their journey.

This is news?
Sure, why not?

This is News; well it is the second most read story in the past few days next to the fires.
Now that may not be news were you work, but it is to a lot of people.
From our ever growing readership we seem to have a very good handle on what is news.
Bad time of year to be canoeing me thinks, what with debris coming down the river and log jams. Seems like news to me anyhow.
