May - An Odd Month Weather Wise
Prince George, B.C. - Environment Canada's Jim Steele has released his report on the May weather situation.
The meteorologist with Environment Canada labels May as a bit of an "odd month"
His report says themonth started with nrea normal atems and some showers, but then , cool and unsettled weather with even a few snow flakes.
The Prince George region did get more rain than normal in May by about 11 mm, and it was slightly warmer than normal.

The first signs of the warm spring and a peak at summer arrived near mid month with temperatures soaring into the low to mid twenties between the 15th and 18th. This was short lived with cooler conditions again by the 19th with yet another unsettled period and heavy rain on the 20th. Temperatures warmed back to near seasonal normal’s for a brief period during the last week however cooler unsettled conditions managed to round out the month.
- Average daily high of 16.9 was slightly above the normal of 16.5 degrees C.
- Average daily low of 5.0 was above the normal of 3.2 degrees C.
- Mean temperature of 11.0 was above the normal 9.9 degrees C.
- Warmest Day on the 17th with a maximum temperature of 25.2 degrees
- Coldest day on the 2nd with an overnight minimum of -1.8 degrees
- Total precipitation of 62.1 mm was above the normal of 50.9 mm.
- Total Snowfall of Trace cm was below the normal of 1.4 cm
- Total rainfall of 62.1 mm was above the normal of 49.5 mm
- Measurable precipitation on 16 days above the normal of 13 days
- Greatest snowfall one day Trace cm on the 8th
- Greatest rainfall one day13.8 mm on the 20th
- No New records established
- Total precipitation of the year to date is 195.1 mm, slightly below the normal of 199.8 mm
