QUESNEL, B.C. – Quesnel’s sixth annual Family Day is just a week away. This time next week, from 10 a.m. till 4 p.m., residents are invited to head to LeBourdais Park to enjoy entertainment, free refreshments and family fun.
“Family Day is a time to enjoy what we have in Quesnel and to take the opportunity to learn more about each other,” said Coun. Sushil Thapar, chair of the Family Day Committee. “Quesnel is one big family. I thank all our sponsors and our great team of volunteers who make this event a success year after year.”
Early Learning Expo, a group of children’s service providers, will offer face painting, entertainment and games. There will also be displays on health, community safety and more.
In addition to all this, the Cowichan 2008 Spirit Pole will be in Quesnel the same day. This fascinating display and interactive experience will be set up at the Civic Plaza, right next to LeBourdais Park from noon to 4 p.m. Visitors to the event will have the opportunity to experience firsthand what is involved in carving a traditional story pole.
Family day was created in 2003 and started with about 800 people in Cariboo Field. Last year, an estimated 4,500 people took part in the festivities. This event is another in the calendar of events in 2008 that the City is using to celebrate its 80th anniversary.
